WHO WE ARE

Outdoor Link’s equipment consultants are passionate adventure  enthusiasts with a lifetime of experiences in the outdoors. Their years of service to the outdoor education and adventure guiding industries have given them a broad understanding and appreciation for quality outdoor equipment. Such first hand experience in the field provides valuable insight when it comes to providing advice and sourcing quality gear for our clients.

As Outdoor Link is under new management, here’s a brief introduction to who we are. If you are ever in the area please drop in as we are always up for an adventure.

PETE McGRATH

For the past 12 years Pete’s life has revolved around guiding and adventuring in the outdoors. From guiding school groups through cave systems, gorges and the rapids of the Ardeche River in Southern France to teaching snowboarding in Saas Fee, Switzerland.

Closer to home, Pete jumps at any opportunity to be out and about, from leading multi-pitch climbing in the Glass House Mountains to guiding sea kayaking expeditions in the Whitsundays. What a way to make a living!

More recently in his role as Senior Instructor for a local Outdoor Education Centre, Pete enjoyed the challenges of staff training, ordering and maintaining gear and instructing specialised programs.

As a satisfied client of Outdoor Link, when the chance to purchase the business was offered, it was a hard opportunity to pass up! So now here he is, one of the directors of Australia’s finest outdoor and adventure gear consultancy.

If Pete doesn’t answer his phone it is probably because he is out paddling his newest toy – a sea kayak – or taking every chance to squeeze in a climb, run or quick mountain bike ride.

LESLEY HUGHES

An avid adventurer, Lesley’s free time has always involved getting outdoors whether it be hiking, rock climbing, paddling or nature photography.

Catching the ‘travel bug’ in 2008, Lesley soon found herself rock climbing in Arco, Italy, then snow camping on glaciers in France and hiking ridgelines in Austria. Where to next? The world is full of amazing adventures, just round the corner!

As a qualified teacher, the challenges and rewards of teaching are many. With her passion for the outdoors, it wasn’t a surprise that Lesley traded the ‘traditional’ classroom for an outdoor education centre, where her classroom is now the great outdoors. She enjoys the challenge of teaching climbing, canoeing, hiking and navigating whilst leading students through expeditions. When you’re out and about every week – rain, hail or shine – you quickly learn to appreciate the value of quality gear!
